Description Crimea, 2nd battalion, 1st Regiment – Wounded in the assault on the Quarries. Crimea, no clasp, Pte J. Jones. 2nd Batn 1st Regt (Entitled to a Sebastopol clasp) John Jones was born in Newtown, Herefordshire. He enlisted on the 24th January 1844. Twice tried and sentenced, firstly to hard labour then imprisoned. He was dangerously wounded during the assault on the Quarries on the 7th June 1855 (London gazette 22nd June 1855) Discharged 16th October 1855 Died 8th December 1887. Condition – Fine, appears to have been broached at some stage.
