Carysfort.; Slesvig 1920(replacement ring) ; Ex Naval & Military Association, enamel lapel badge; Torpedoman cloth trade badge William George Spear was born on the 20th November 1886 in Portsmouth. He enlisted on the 20th November 1904, serving on Boscawen, Minotaur, Agincourt, Juno, Firequeen, Cressy, Berwick, Venon,, Victory, Jupiter , Swiftsure, Excellent. During WW1 he was on Black Prince from 1st May 1912 to 20th April 1914, Excellent to 16th August 1914, Glory to 10th April 1916, Excellent to 14th November 1916, Moonstone? 1o 18th May 1919, Carysfort to 15th November 1920. He went on the serve on Victor, Verdun, Tribune, and Excellent, being discharged on the 19th November 1926. Petty Officer from 1st September 1916. and Chief P.O from 1st September 1925. The Slevig Commemorative Medal 1920, was awarded for assistance of allies during the Plebiscite on 14th March 1920. Presented at a parade at Rosenborg Castle By King Christian on behalf of the Danish Government to the men of the 1st battalion, Sherwood Foresters and H.M.S Carysfort. Condition – GVF, medals a little polished.
