Description A Good Afghanistan & Egypt Officers group – 60th Foot (Rifles) later Pay Corps. Afghanistan 1878-80,  clasp, Kandahar, Captain Thos. Prince Lloyd, 2/60th Foot; Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880, Capt. T. Prince Lloyd, 2/60 Foot; Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, no clasp , Maj. & Paymr. T. P. Lloyd, A.P. Dept.; Khedive’s Star, dated 1884-6, unnamed as issued, mounted court-style for display. Thomas Prince Lloyd was born in Templemore, Ireland on 25 July 1841 and was educated at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. In July 1861 he was appointed an Ensign without purchase in the 15th (East Yorkshire) Regiment; in August the same year he transferred as an Ensign to the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders, again without purchase, joining them in India in November 1861. Promoted Lieutenant by purchase in November 1864, he returned to England in 1869, and exchanged to the 2nd Battalion 60th Royal Rifles in March 1871. With them he returned to India in 1872 and was promoted to Captain in June 1879. In September 1879 he transferred to the Army Pay Department but retained his position serving in the 2/60th Royal Rifles; as such he served in the Second Afghan War. Appointed Honorary Major in September 1884 and appointed Hon. Major and Paymaster to the Yorkshire Regiment in 1885 he saw further active service in Egypt, the regiment being actively involved at the battle of Ginnis on 30 December 1885. A ppointed Staff Paymaster in January 1890, he was promoted Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 April 1895, and retired on 15 April 1899. He died in Dover on 14 March 1904. Condition – VF and better
