He enlisted on the 21st July 1917, serving on Impregnable to 6th February 1919;  Valiant to 2nd July 1921; Vivid I to 26th August 1921; Defiance to 7th June 1922; Delhi to 17th November 1924; Vivid I to 12th September 1926; Malaya to 20th September 1927; Queen Elizabeth to 17th October 1927; Vivid I to 30th December 1927; Hood to 1st May 1929; Defiance to 24th September 1929; Greenwich to 18th October 1929; Vivid I-III to 6th January 1930; Glorious to 6th January 1933; Vivid I to 22nd March 1933; Comus to 29th August 1933; Furious to 9th May 1934; Courageous to 12th November 1934; Furious to 6th June 1936; Drake I to 3rd July 1936; Tenedos to 6th September 1936; Defender to 30th September 1936; Drake I to 27th July 1939; Repulse  10th September 1945 when released to President III LSGC awarded 17th September 1934.
