R.E.M.E.; Korea, 2548027 S/Sgt J.B. Doherty. R.E.M.E.; UN Korea; General Service Medal 1962 – 2007, clasps, Borneo, Malay Peninsula, Northern Ireland, Major J.B. Doherty. ACC.; 1977 Silver Jubilee medal. ; Regular Army Certificate of Service (Red Book) (Group court mounted for display.) John Barclay Doherty ws born in 1927. Enlisted on the 6th October 1942, his rebook covers his service upto 5th November 1954 in the R.E.M.E. Service No 438460 Did not serve overseas during WW2 so only received the War medal.. Served in Palestine 26th August 1946 to 3rd May 1948. Staff Sergeant 9th June 1947. From 14th March 1951 he was sent to the Far East, Japan and Korea, serving there for 21 months, returning home on the 18th December 1952. Lieut 6th May 1959 Captain 10th January 1956 Major 10th January 1963 Lieut Colonel 1976 Retires 3rd April 1978 Died 16th December 1989 in Bournemouth With various photocopies from the Army Catering Corps Journal that refer to Doherty , he also appears to have been the journals editor from about 1975. A scarce combination if not unique? Condition – NEF
