Description A Good British Empire Medal group – Northumberland Fusiliers, Royal Flying Corps, A.R.P. and L.D.V. / Home Guard in Gateshead. British Empire Medal (Civil) William. T. Wappett.; 1914-15 Star, 511 Pte W.T. Wappett, North’d. Fus.;  British War and Victory Medals, 511 Pte W.T. Wappett North’d. Fus.; Defence Medal, un-named as issued. (Group swing mounted as worn) William Truemand Wappett was born on the 27th June 1886 His MIC shows he landed in France on the 21st November 1915, and that he also served in the R.F.C / R.A.F. with service no 49301. Transferred to R.F.C. 11th August 1916 1939 census shows him as  Air raid Precaustions, North eastern Electric. Enlisted in the Local Defence Volunteers 17th October 1940 and was living at Ravensworth Road, duns ton, Gateshead, Durham Promoted to Sergeant 3rd March 1941 and discharged on the 31st December 1945. British Empire Medal – London Gazette 10th June 1948 – Electrical Wireman, Dunston Power Station, North eastern Electric Supply Company, Ltd. (Gateshead, Co Durham) He died in the 1st quarter 1972 in Co Durham Condition – GVF
