Obverse – A figure (jester?) riding a winged horse over a townscape. Legend: Wenn die Kraft daniederliegt – Oft Ein Guter Witz Noch Siegt (which means something like: When the strength is down – often a good joke still triumphs.) Reverse – In centre, Heinrich II around which Zum 25 Jahrigen Jubilaum 1897. [25th Year Jubilee] We have not established who this “Henry II” was – clearly reigned from 1872 – or what the origin of the medal might be. Clearly Germanic – German States? In NEF condition.
