• Marked as H. Martin Constrcteur Paris, but likely made by Dallmeyer in London (as marked on the other side) • Martin lenses are known to be nickel plated, brass barrels, however, there is very little info on these, nor does the Vade Macum list them - as best we can tell, this is a rebranded Dallmeyer marketed by Martin, in a unique in house made barrel using Dallmeyer glass • Likely circa 1860, shows age, with some blemishes on barrel, dents, marks and some plating is rubbed off • Glass is fair, with some marks on outer and inner surfaces - this lens is 160 years old and has been in continous use - it shoes its age. This is not a collector or museum piece but a real part of photo history that can be put to use right away • Massive coverage, with a conservative estimate of about 500mm at infinity, much more when shooting close up. At portrait distance, this will cover 16X20 • Mounted on a Deardorff 6X6 RC board
