Description Sound Snap is our experimental panchromatic black-and-white sound recording film. Originally designed for the motion picture industry, sound recording requires ultra-high definition, ensured by an anti-halation layer positioned between the film base and the emulsion layer. The film also lacks full sensitivity to red light. The combination of these characteristics makes a fascinating and unruly film once spooled for photographic use. Expect high contrast, high definition and little/no visible grain. You should also be prepared to blow out some highlights (at least until you dial in how to expose the film). You can find more details, tips for use, and processing info on the datasheet Sound recording: How the heck does that work? This film was originally intended for the motion picture industry specifically for soundtrack recording. In this process, the movie’s sound and music are transformed into light signals and recorded onto the film using a high-speed film recorder. After processing, the original “soundtrack film” is copied onto the side of the motion picture print, where it can be read by an optical sensor as the film moves through a projector. The optical signals are then converted back into sound. DX Code: This film is sold without a dx code, which means that you will need to use it in a camera in which you can manually set the iso.
